Providers in the Netherlands no longer take over each other’s call and text traffic in the event of a malfunction – Tablets and phones – News

Interesting: it was not expected that everyone could continue to use the internet and make phone calls, but rather services, devices and means, such as when, for example, the Utrecht express trams stopped for days because the Vodafone SIMs no longer worked. . The latter was such a big problem at the time that suppliers quickly came up with this construction.

And there is much more: chip vending machines for public transport, candy and drink dispensers, security systems, ATMs, sensors and counters of all kinds, etc.

Addiction will only increase in the future. Self-driving cars, etc.

I understand that suppliers want to get rid of costs. I understand they may prefer to charge a subscription fee for backup. But didn’t the ministry intervene too quickly? After all, TNO often credits who pays.

On the other hand: VoLTE roaming (calls over 4g) and calls over 5g have also not taken off yet when roaming with Dutch SIM cards abroad… and vice versa, foreigners roaming in the Netherlands still have to go back to 2g or 3g for calls. It seems to me that this is rushed. Once this problem is solved, the complexity of home roaming will also suddenly be nowhere near as great as it is now being suggested.
