Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Laksana Tri Handoko, said the LIPI team was one of 6 teams that developed the Red and White vaccine.

“Even though it has imported vaccines from abroad such as Sinovac and Pfizer, Indonesia must be able to develop its own vaccines so that stocks do not run out quickly,” Handoko said at the MNC Trijaya Special Vaccine Day program.
However, he acknowledged, the effort to develop the Red and White vaccine was not an easy matter for a moment. For clinical trials in humans, it is likely that it could start early next year.
“Clinical trials in humans will only be carried out in early 2022. It’s not easy, yes, to be honest Indonesia has not been trained and has the competent tools to develop vaccines. So far, we import more vaccines, so this is a challenge for us, “Handoko said.
He added that the clinical trial of the red and white vaccine will follow WHO and BPOM standards. Namely comparing people who have received the Sinovac vaccine, with people who have been injected with the Red and White vaccine.
