Kelvin van der Linde is the first confirmed Phoenix Racing driver in the Asian Le Mans Series. After the end of the DTM, the racing team plans to build up a second pillar alongside GT racing.
Phoenix Racing has found its first driver for next year’s Asian Le Mans Series season. The team from Meuspath helped Kelvin van der Linde to make his debut in prototype sport. The South African confirmed this on his social media channels. Despite his foray into the Asian Le Mans Series, he will remain loyal to GT racing.
At the beginning of September Phoenix Racing announced that it would name an Oreca 07 Gibson for the Asian branch of the Le Mans Series. Originally, two races were planned in Thailand and Malaysia. But due to the corona pandemic, the calendar has been revised.
Now the championship starts on the first weekend in February in Abu Dhabi. A double header will be held on the Yas Marina Circuit. A four-hour race in the Emirates takes place on February 5th and 6th. The second double header is to be driven on a different route variant of the Yas Marina Circuit. The date has not yet been set for this.
Phoenix Racing’s rivals in the LMP2 class come from Racing Team India, ERA Motorsport, G-Drive Racing twice, Jota Sport and Euro International Competition.
