Protests over the death of Mahsa Amini, the Netflix actress undresses and hijab on Instagram

Mahsa Amini’s death still arouses several protests. Not only do I take to the streets for demonstrations, a number of people have also expressed their displeasure with the Iranian moral police on social media. An actress named Elnaaz Norouzi also turned to Instagram to support female victims. In the post, she took off her hijab and clothes as a form of solidarity.

Elnaaz Norouzi is an Iranian actress best known for her Sacred Games series which airs on Netflix. Recently, she caused a stir by uploading a video in which she undressed in protest over the death of Mahsa Amini, who allegedly died at the age of 22 after being detained by the moral police for violating hijab rules.

In the video, Elnaaz initially wears an all-black suit complete with a burqa veil. Then he took off the clothes he was wearing one by one. While she was standing, the 30-year-old woman moved on from hijabs, dressing gowns, shirts, crop tops, jeans, bras until finally only her panties remained.

The woman, who is also a model, said she did it not to promote nudity but freedom of choice. In Iran, women are required to cover themselves, including wearing a headscarf. In the deleted video, the Tehran-born actress says women should have the right to choose their own clothes.

Elnaaz Norouzi told India Today he was concerned about the situation in Iran. He himself was stopped by the moral police while he lived there. The woman was taken to be polite and beaten. Therefore, Elnaaz wants to join the struggle for the rights of women who have been repressed for 40 years.

Mahsa Amini’s death sparked a life-consuming protest. At least three women who died during the demonstrations were reportedly beaten by the moral police.
