Near the factory Japanese auto concern Nissan in Barcelona, the closure of which became known on Thursdaypasses a large-scale protest of workers.
Judging by the shots from the scene, the protesters blocked the entrance to the plant with tires and set them on fire. Nissan factory is located in the industrial area near the international airport of El Prat.
It is also reported that protesters blocked traffic on some roads in the plant area. Information about clashes with the police has not yet been reported.
Nissan previously reported that in 2019, the Barcelona plant operated at 30% of maximum capacity. In March this year, production was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In early May, employees went on strike. The decision to close the plant means a reduction of about 3 thousand jobs, and in all this measure can affect tens of thousands of people.
