Protests outside the Olympics inauguration: “Terrible to run with the games”

The decision to run with the Olympics a year after they had to be canceled due to the corona pandemic has angered the Japanese. In May reported BBC that 70 percent of Japanese are against the decision to hold the event, but the Olympic Committee and the Japanese government stood by the decision.

Tomomi Yamaguchi was one of several who demonstrated against the Olympics on Friday.

– I think it’s awful to drive on with the games, she tells Reuters.
