(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, 09 NOV – Protest marches on Saturday in various American cities, from New York to Washington, from Seattle to Portland, against Donald Trump‘s victory, even if with smaller numbers than what happened in 2016. Thousands of people gathered outside Trump Tower in the Big Apple shouting slogans such as ‘We’re not leaving’ and ‘We won’t back down’. The ‘Protect Our Futures’ march, which started from Columbus Circle, was attended by unions, immigrant rights groups and LGBTQ+ supporters. Thousands more gathered in Washington DC in response to fears that the new administration could further threaten abortion rights after Roe v. Wade is overturned in 2022. Women’s March protesters gathered outside offices of the Heritage Foundation in the capital to criticize the conservative think tank author of the controversial ‘Project 2025’ for Trump’s second presidency. The initiative was organized to support abortion access and “as an opportunity to build community and strength in the wake of the 2024 elections.” The Women’s March plans to hold another rally in Washington on January 18, two days before Trump is sworn in for his second term as president.” (ANSA).
