“Protests in Israel Against Legal Reforms Undermining Justice System”

Tel Aviv:Protests continue in Israel over legal reforms that undermine the justice system. Thursday’s protest blocked the roads.

After a gap of one month, the protests became active in the context of the Parliament session again this week. In March, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu temporarily suspended the reform process due to strong opposition from various quarters.

Protesters carrying Israeli flags blocked major roads and intersections. Police arrested the protestors. The protesters also expressed their dissatisfaction with the rising cost of living in the country.

If the reform is implemented, the power of the judicial system including the Supreme Court of the country will decrease and the power of the elected government will increase. However, opponents of the reform argue that this will endanger the country’s democracy.
