Protests in Cuba – US calls for internet return and detainees release

US State Department spokesman Ned Price commented on the situation in Cuba on July 13. He called on the country’s authorities to give people the opportunity to express their opinions.

“We call on the leaders of Cuba to exercise restraint and respect the voice of the people by opening up all means of communication, online and offline,” he said.

Ned Price also greeted the Cuban people and applauded their courage. He noted that the authorities should release the demonstrators who were detained during the protests.

“We call for calm and condemn any violence against those who peacefully demonstrate their strength. And we also ask the Cuban government to release those detained for peaceful demonstrations,” he said.
