The protests followed a report by a right-wing Republican senator about transgender children. Trans rights groups say the report allows for a return to ‘conversion therapy’ – a claim the author denies. Based on the report, legislators drafted a bill that is expected to be debated on May 28.

Activists also denounced the latest book “Transmania”, which they called transphobic. The author denies the allegations and denounces them as an attempt at censorship. They say the book is an “exploration of the abuse of transgender identity”.
