Protests break out in Iran over the death of a woman arrested for clothing problems

Amini’s body was then transported to his native province of Kurdistan for burial on the morning of September 17.

“Security institutions forced the Amini family to hold funerals without any ceremony to avoid tension,” said Soma Rostami of Hengaw, a Kurdish human rights organization. Guardian.

Raisi signed a decree on August 15 that regulates the clothing of Iranian women and provides for tougher sanctions for violating strict codes, both in public and online.

Several Iranian women were arrested across the country after a “national day of hijab and chastity” was announced on 12 July.

One of them is Sepideh Rashno, a writer and artist who was reportedly beaten and tortured in detention before forcibly apologizing on television.

Human rights groups reported that additional security forces were deployed outside Kasra hospital.
