“We had a long, intensive, interesting and constructive meeting with the Association of Grain Producers and the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber. On the one hand we have 500 million more in the budget for the agricultural sectoron the other hand there are difficulties in the sector and we need to find a solution how to support those most affected”Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov said after a 2-hour meeting with farmers on Monday.
The increase in funds comes from the fact that both the expiring Rural Development Program (2014-2020) and the current RDP (2023-2027) will actually be implemented, as well as the Agricultural Recovery and Sustainability Plan .
He specified that three groups of problems are noticeable.
“The first are related to the necessary liquidity in order to continue the work, the second group of problems concern the need to support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in relation to the changes in the laws, the third group of problems are related to the tasks of defending Bulgaria’s position in the EU”. said the prime minister.
“We agreed that within the framework of this week, the Association of Grain Producers, the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber and the Ministry of Agriculture should review all the information that is available and propose options for solutions that we can discuss together. We will meet again next week”Denkov also said.
The Minister of Agriculture Kiril Vatev defined the meeting as constructive. “We will increase the pace of work”, said Minister Vatev.
The agricultural sector specified that by the end of the week they will substantiate all rates by sector, and next Tuesday they will present the so-called memorandum and package of legislative proposals. For now, the protests are being called off.
