Protests against Mahsa Amini’s death in Chaotic Paris, tear gas canisters

Protest against the death of an Iranian woman named Mahsa Amini in Paris, France fell into chaos. The police fired tear gas.

Reported AFPOn Monday (9/26/2022), demonstrators gathered in central Paris. They protested for the second consecutive day for Mahsa Amini’s death after being arrested by the Iranian moral police.

The demonstration started from Trocadero square in central Paris. Some protesters shouted their anger at the Iranian government and the leadership of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Protesters march towards the Iranian embassy. Police in riot gear blocked the path of the demonstrators.

Police fired tear gas to disperse the protesters. In a statement, the Paris police confirmed the use of tear gas.

“On several occasions the group has tried to break through the checkpoints erected near the Iranian embassy. The police used … tear gas to drive them away,” reads the Paris police statement.

Paris police said there were 4,000 mass demonstrations. One person was reportedly arrested and a police officer was injured.
