In Pakistan, demonstrations are again taking place against France. In Rawalpindi, a city about 20 kilometers south of the capital Islamabad, there were about 5,000 protesters yesterday and about 1,000 today.
Just like yesterday, the authorities have closed a main road to the capital, Islamabad. The protesters gathered at the roadblock today. Commuters had to make detours and had long delays.
The protests are organized by a right-wing religious political party. Telephone services were blocked for more than 24 hours so that organizers could not communicate with each other, but they are now back on the air.
