Demonstrations against exit restrictions had already taken place in all three states in the past few days. All three countries are also governed by Democratic Party politicians – Trump against it is Republican.
During the largest protest, around 3,000 partially armed demonstrators were in on Wednesday Minnesotas Capital Lansing protested, partly with Trump campaign hats and flags.
Exit restrictions currently apply in more than 40 of the 50 U.S. states. Trump had made it clear several times that he wanted an end to the restrictions in order to boost the economy again. However, the decision-making power rests with the governors of the individual states.
The USA are the country with the highest number of proven corona infections worldwide. Their number rose to almost 717,000 on Saturday. More than 37,000 infected people died.
