Protests after the decision of the Constitutional Tribunal on abortion. The Women’s Strike publishes a map of protests

“Ahead of you is our new strike map, thanks to which you will not only see what and where is going on, and how many of you will be, but you can also add your own event” – informs the National Women’s Strike, publishing a link to the interactive map. It shows that demonstrations take place not only in large cities, but also in small towns throughout Poland.

Today, as on Monday, roadblocks are planned throughout Poland. In Warsaw, the demonstration will start at 17 and last until 20. The nationwide action of blocking streets is to start at 16.

The Women’s Strike consultative council presented its composition and first demands

The preliminary composition of the advisory council was presented on Sundaywhich, in the words of Marta Lempart, is to collect and organize the votes of the protesters. The council included, among others: Barbara Labuda, Beata Chmiel, Danuta Kuroń, Jacek Wiśniewski, Robert Hojda, Mirka Makuchowska, Bożena Przyłuska, Dorota Łoboda, Katarzyna Krzyżanowska, Monika Płatek, Michał Boni, Piotr Szumlewicz, Sebastian Słowiński, Paweł Kasprzak , Kinga Łozińska, Dominika Lasota and Nadia Oleszczuk.

Klementyna Suchanow explained the postulates of the Women’s Strike. As she mentioned, these are, among others the issue of abortion and the full rights of women, the rights of the LGBT community, the introduction of a secular state and the removal of religion from schools, dealing with the climate catastrophe or the elimination of the so-called garbage on the labor market. The strike also wants to deal with animal rights, education and the health service.

Criticism of the composition of the consultative council. “Reconstruction Group of the Third Republic of Poland”

Left-wing voices criticizing the presented composition of the advisory council appeared in social media. Activist Jan Śpiewak talks about the “KOD reconstruction group”, journalist Magdalena Okraska about “the reconstruction group of the Third Republic of Poland”.

“Where are the women from smaller towns and villages? Where are the trade unionists? Where are the people who speak publicly about their abortion experience? Where are people with disabilities? Where are sexually workers or people doing caring work? – writes the anarchist collective Syrena from Warsaw on Facebook.

As it was emphasized in the evening on the Women’s Strike Facebook page, the given composition of the council “is not final and closed, on the contrary – it is only just beginning to take shape”. Ultimately, it is to have several dozen people.
