Five decades ago, a man named Rouhani Abubakar opened his tea shop on Bandh day. Under the leadership of Pallikandi Bichammad, supporters of the bandh came to close the shop. Civic leader NP Impichammad also stepped forward to stop bandh supporters and a verbal altercation ensued.
Meanwhile, Hamzakoya, Bichammad’s older brother, arrived. He slapped Bichmad on the cheek. That said, everyone who came to close the shop has left the place. The demonstration took a detour after seeing the people of Nainamvalap standing on the road ready for anything. After that, no one came to close the shop.
Those who lead the hartal go to the hotels and shops of Nainamvalap to relieve fatigue. The hotels and shops opened as usual on Friday and people went about their normal business. The shops had been busy since morning. People came from different parts of the hotel. There was no place for the locals to drink tea.
