Protesters expel Fandakova from the Golden Pen Awards | News from Bulgaria and the World

Protesters, led by Father Dionysius, tried to expel Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, and she left Largo, where the Golden Feather ceremony is taking place, Bulgaria On Air TV reported.

“Eurocom” reports that the protesters shouted “Resignation”, “Fandakova – shame”, as well as “Who killed Ludmil?”. They interrupted the ceremony and were immediately surrounded by police.

“I think this is offensive to all those people who deserve it so much. I am retiring so as not to spoil the holiday of these people,” Fandakova said.

Ludmil is the boy who was struck by electricity from a bare cable jumping out of the shaft in front of St. Ivan Rilski Hospital and died.

In recent days, public discontent has been directed against the mayor of Sofia after it became clear that for another year 10,000 children are left without kindergarten.

The “Golden Pen” is an award with which the “European Music Festival” awards prominent Bulgarian artists and culture figures. The solemn 26th Golden Feather ceremony was held in the capital’s Largo.
