Pastors who made the ‘1,000 People Declaration’ criticizing President Yoon Seok-yeol’s state administration last July held a service to launch the ‘Christian Group to End the Tyranny of Yoon Seok-yeol’ at Joe Hall of the Korean Christian Church Center in Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 17th.

In its launch declaration, the Christian Association claimed, “The tyranny of the Yoon Seok-yeol regime is engulfing the country and destroying the democracy and people’s livelihood that were built with great difficulty.”

The Christian Association also stated, “Tolerating this regime that ignores the people and denies constitutional values is a betrayal of history and a betrayal of the mission of a steward to care for the sheep entrusted to us by Christ.”

The Christian Group to End Tyranny Yoon Seok-yeol was led by eight religious elders as advisors, including senior pastor Kim Sang-geun, retired Anglican bishop Park Kyeong-jo, former Kigam bishops Shin Kyeong-ha, senior pastor Ahn Jae-woong, senior pastor Lee Hae-hak, elder Lee Man-yeol, senior pastor Yoo Gyeong-jae, and Seon Seon.

The group was co-represented by six people, including Kang Kyeong-min, former chairman of Bible Korea, former NCCK general secretary Kim Young-joo, Na Haek-jip, head of the Korean Church Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation Group, Ryu Tae-seon, Seong Seong-ok, and senior pastor Heo Won-bae.

Co-representative Kang Kyeong-min said at the launch service, “Right now, light and darkness, truth and lies are fighting,” and “At a time when this country is facing a very dangerous time, many Esthers must come out.”

Co-representative Kang Kyung-min went on to criticize, saying, “70% of our people are condemning the Yoon Seok-yeol administration,” and “President Yoon Seok-yeol must resign with humility.”

The Christian Group for the Ending Tyranny of Yoon Seok-yeol plans to continue weekly commentary and prayer meetings.

Meanwhile, on the 10th, the NCCK Current Affairs Conference (standing representative, Rev. Sang-geun Kim), formed by the Korean Council of Christian Churches (Chairman Chang-seop Yoon, General Secretary Rev. Jong-saeng Kim), announced a prayer for the restoration of democracy on the 17th.

In a prayer, the NCCK City Council said, “The justice we worked so hard to achieve is now nowhere to be found,” and “We have become a world where the lives of the people have fallen to the ground again and the human dignity of workers has been crushed again.”

The NCCK City Council also said, “The South and the North, which fought a war, have come together to create peace, but there is no trace of the peace on the Korean Peninsula that was achieved with great effort.” “I ended up pointing the gun again,” he lamented.

The NCCK City Council said, “The reason our country is so easily ruined is because of our sin of allowing anti-people forces to take power and our sin of handing over guns to anti-peace forces,” adding, “The church should become a church that shines the light of justice, peace, and life.” “Please allow me to be born again,” he prayed.

The NCCK City Council will continue its ‘Prayer for Peace on the Korean Peninsula’ next week.
