Scientists at Ben-Gurion University have discovered a protein that can slow and even stop the progression of Parkinson’s disease. Hightech + writes about this.

Parkinson’s disease has been associated with the death of dopamine-producing neurons. Scientists have found that BMP5 / 7 protein signaling is reduced in dopamine-producing neurons, and suggested that this may be due to the development of the disease. Tests on mice have confirmed this.

The introduction of BMP5 / 7 prevented tremors in rodents, as well as reversing the death of dopamine-producing neurons and reducing the accumulation of alpha-synuclein.
