In order to ensure more distance between passengers on heavily used lines, up to 100 additional buses will be running on Berlin’s streets from Monday, most of which are articulated buses. These are used on around 50 particularly heavily used lines.
There are also eight trams, which are supposed to provide additional capacity on the heavily frequented M5 and M8 lines.

Because almost all students are still studying at home, the planned deployment of security guards will be postponed, according to the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG).
Berlin wants to gradually reopen schools from February 22nd. Students in grades 1 to 3 should start. For them, alternating lessons are planned for half the class.
The approximately 100 security guards are expected to keep their distance at stops and in the vehicles from February 22nd. If necessary, they should also direct passengers to following vehicles.

The Senate provided five million euros on Tuesday for the additional measures. They are initially valid until the Easter holidays and should be checked at the beginning of March.
