Protecting Minors in Sports: The Importance of Coaches and Club Members in Child Protection

The responsibility and protection of minors is of the utmost importance and requires our continued attention and action. Sport itself and especially the coaches can shape a young person’s personality and teach them important social skills – such as team spirit, tolerance, motivation and discipline. The coach, all managers and generally all club members should be aware of their role model and educational function and behave accordingly.

We are committed to protecting young athletes from any form of exploitation. We pay particular attention to making player transfers fair and transparent.

We condemn all forms of violence, regardless of whether it is physical, mental or sexual.

That’s why we are committed to a culture of observation and attach great importance to our trainers or trainers taking responsibility and intervening when necessary. Accordingly, we set high quality standards in the selection process for employees and volunteers in the area of youth work.

In this context, an important part of our preventive youth work is the education and sensitization of coaches, parents and the underage athletes themselves. For this reason and in order to actually ensure active child and youth protection in our club, we have a child protection concept, rules of conduct for child protection and introduced a code of conduct for child protection. Effective prevention can only take place if everyone involved is familiar with the topic, procedures are agreed upon and respectful treatment of those involved is ensured.
