A program adapted to the needs
Certified Wing Chun instructor Carl has been teaching for ten years martial arts and self-defensein Thury-Harcourt-le-Hom.
“Over the years, I have received many requests from women wanting to learn how to defend themselves,” he says.
After experimenting with private lessons, he decided to take the plunge and offer group sessions this year. The objective of these courses is to allow women to defend themselves without getting into fights.
The goal of self-defense is the art of fleeing and dodging blows.
Carl.
He emphasizes that Wing Chun, a martial art invented by a woman, is particularly effective for this type of teaching.
A pragmatic approach
Unlike traditional martial arts, which are often oriented towards competition, self-defense focuses on practical and effective techniques in real situations.
We learn to manage stress and use simple actions to protect ourselves.
The instructor.
Participants will discover techniques for freeing themselves from a hold or an embrace, learning to dodge and deflect blows, and above all, flee a dangerous situation.
For Carl, it is crucial to emphasize the importance of mental preparation and awareness of one’s environment. “The idea is to learn how to stay healthy and get home safely as quickly as possible,” he explains.
Encouraging testimonies
Cassandre, 20 years old, is participating for the first time: “My father is a Wing Chun teacher, he told me about it, and I wanted to try.” Alexa, 29, came with a more personal goal.
« Jwas violently attacked a year agoand I want to learn how to defend myself so I never experience that again. And above all, regain confidence in myself,” she confides.
The program also includes tips for managing distance from an attacker and using your environment to protect yourself.
Fleeing is not a sign of weakness, it is a strategic withdrawal.
Carl.
Ultimately, the important thing is to react appropriately to a threat.
