Prospective Cooking Oil Mafia Suspects Announced Monday

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.comMinister of Commerce Muhammad Lutfi stated that the prospective mafia suspect cooking oil will be announced on Monday (21/3/2022) next week.

Lutfi emphasized that the government would not give in to cooking oil mafia and ensure the mafia is thrown into prison.

“I, the government, have never relented, let alone lost to the mafia, I will make sure they are arrested and the potential suspects will be announced on Monday,” said Lutfi at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (17/3/2022).

He admitted that he had provided data related to the cooking oil mafia practice to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency so that it could be processed by law.

Lutfi said that the practices carried out by the mafia included diverting subsidized oil to industrial oil, exporting cooking oil abroad, and repackaging cooking oil so that it could be sold at a price that did not match the highest retail price (HET).

“I will fight it and make sure those who do it will be prosecuted before the law,” said Lutfi.

Previously, Lutfi revealed that there were cooking oil mafias who smuggled cooking oil for public consumption to industries and even abroad.

“With an apology, the Ministry of Trade cannot control this because human nature is greedy and evil,” he said during a Working Meeting with Commission VI DPR, in Jakarta, Thursday (17/3/2022).
