Prospecting work is carried out to start the soursop cultivation – Inforegion

JUNIN. In order to start with the cultivation of soursop in 25 hectares of crops, in favor of the same number of participants from the town of Unión Piota, in the district of Pangoa (Junín), it is that the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida) carried out prospecting and georeferencing of agricultural parcels.

That is why the Devida technical team carried out information gathering work in the towns of Unión Piota, Pachacútec and Túpac Amaru, which will allow us to know the characteristics of the area to be intervened and carry out a real diagnosis of the cultivable areas of the 25 families that will be favored with this intervention.

As a next step, Devida and the authorities of the beneficiary localities will sign a memorandum of understanding to specify the commitments between both parties and develop the agricultural capacities of the beneficiaries of this initiative.

Subsequently, the Devida technical team will provide assistance in pest and disease management, weed control, fertilization, installation in the final field under an agroforestry system, as well as the collection of samples for soil analysis, with the purpose of evaluating the fertility of the soil and productive capacity of each of the prospected plots, from which a fertilization program will be drawn up.

With the intervention, it is expected to produce around 20 thousand kilos of this important alternative crop per season, the same that would be marketed for around 120 thousand soles in the production centers. Profits are doubled if families give added value and its sale in the local and regional market, Devida informed INFOREGIÓN.

The president of the Association of Entrepreneurial Agricultural Producers of the Anapate Valley, Julián Quispe López, highlighted Devida’s intervention in this area of ​​Vraem with the execution of productive projects that represents an alternative of sustainable development for farming families.

“In this area we are dedicated to the cultivation of bananas, yucca, papaya and kión, but we want to further diversify our production to be able to sell to the foreign market. In addition, we have in mind to acquire a processing plant and give added value to this production, “he said.
