Prosecutors request arrest warrant for alleged illegal funding of Democratic Party of Korea.

In 2021, the prosecution investigating the alleged illegal funding of the Democratic Party of Korea requested an arrest warrant for Kang Rae-gu, an auditor at Korea Water Resources Corporation, who was pointed out as a financing plan.

Auditor Kang is accused of providing or ordering money and valuables, such as scattering a total of 94 million won to elect former CEO Song Young-gil at the time of the Democratic Party convention in 2021.

In addition, in September 2020, while serving as an executive at Korea Water Resources Corporation, he was also charged with receiving a request from a businessman to supply power plant equipment under the Water Resources Corporation and taking 3 million won.

This is the first time the prosecution has requested an arrest warrant for this case.

Prosecutors plan to summon Song’s former aide, Park, and others to further check whether Song was involved in the transfer of illegal funds.
