Investigations by the Public Ministry into acts of administrative corruption will not stop at Operation Anti Octopus, which led 11 people involved to carry out coercion measures by order of Judge Alejandro Vargas.
This was revealed by the Attorney General of the Republic, Miriam Germán Brito, and the specialized prosecutor for the Persecution of Administrative Corruption (PEPCA), Wilson Camacho.
Germán Brito did not go into details about the investigations carried out by that entity and the actions that the Public Ministry will undertake, limiting himself only to answering affirmatively to the question of whether they will continue with a “of course they will, they will continue.”
While Camacho, assured that the Public Ministry will investigate any fact that they find out, regardless of the criminal offense of corruption that is committed.
The head of the PEPCA also pointed out that in the investigations they carry out on illegal acts in the Anti Octopus case and others, they will question all the people who arise from those processes.
“The PEPCA and the General Directorate of Persecution that have been promoting these investigations have a constant and that is that in all the investigations that we carry out, as many people as they arise in the investigations will be investigated and the evidence indicates that it is necessary to investigate them because they can or contribute to the investigation or may be involved in the crimes that are being investigated, “he said.
In that order, and after the investigations that follow the former Minister of Youth, Kimberly Taveras, in which her sister Yeni Taveras has been interviewed by the PEPCA, said that if the relative of the former mayor of La Guayiga is associated with any act of corruption, will be determined by the course of the investigation.
Another case that the Public Ministry does not rule out investigating is the corruption network that operated in the electricity distributors (EDES) in the government of Danilo Medina, as the Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio, denounced at the Listín Diario Breakfast To the mountain.

PEPCA investigations
The Special Prosecutor’s Office for the Persecution of Administrative Corruption (PEPCA) has been summoning officials and legislators from the past and current governments to question them about the property and patrimony documents they presented to the country’s Chamber of Accounts.
Among the people who are investigating and have not been identified by the PEPCA of committing any irregularity are the former presidents of the Chamber of Deputies, Radhamés Camacho and Lucía Medina, as well as Senator Félix Bautista.
Kimberly Taveras, who resigned as Minister of Youth after an investigation into her assets, and Pedro Brand Mayor Wilson Paniagua.
Operation Anti Octopus
On November 29, the Public Ministry initiated the arrests of an administrative corruption network called Operation Anti Octopus.
Eleven people were singled out and arrested by her, including two brothers of former President Danilo Medina. Of this group, seven went to preventive detention, three at home, and a last one who is obliged to appear before the Public Ministry.
Judge José Alejandro Vargas ordered that Juan Alexis Medina Sánchez, brother of former President Medina, serve in preventive detention for a period of three months at the San Cristóbal Correction and Rehabilitation Center.
It also ordered the same measure of coercion against Francisco Pagán Rodríguez and Aquiles Alejandro Christopher Sánchez, former directors of the Office of State Works Supervisory Engineers (OISOE) and of Inspection, respectively.
Fernando Rosa Rosa, former director of the Patrimonial Fund of the Reformed Company (Fonper), Julián Esteban Suriel Suazo, who was seized an illegal arsenal of weapons, José Dolores Santana Carmona and Wacal Vernavel Méndez Pineda must also serve preventive detention.
Regarding Carmen Magalys Medina Sánchez, sister of Juan Alexis, and Lorenzo Wilfredo (Freddy) Hidalgo Núñez, former Minister of Health, they will serve three months of house arrest.
In addition, Carmen Magalys and Hidalgo Núñez will have to present a bond of 10 million pesos by contract and will remain prevented from leaving the country.
While Rafael Antonio Germosén Andújar, former Comptroller General of the Republic, must also serve house arrest, preventing him from leaving the country.
The judge also released Domingo Antonio Santiago Muñoz.
