Prosecutor Claudia Zárate Rojas obtained a 3-year prison sentence against Claudio Barrios Feest, 34, for the crime of sexual abuse committed against a 22-year-old girl at the time of the events, in Chillán.
In the abbreviated trial, held in the Guarantee Court of this city, the defendant acknowledged that in the early morning of June 13, 2020, after sharing with the young woman and other people, he tried to rape her while she was sleeping.
Claudio Barrios will serve his sentence on intensive probation and is prohibited from approaching the victim.
In October 2022, the Public Ministry formalized Claudio Barrios Feest for the crime of rape with respect to the young woman. Before the Guarantee Court, the defendant’s lawyer, María Isabel Godoy, questioned the commission of a crime on that occasion and assured that it was a consensual sexual relationship.
At the time, Barrios’ defense questioned the young woman’s delay in going to court, which was counterargued at that time by the prosecutor Marcia Venegas, recalling that it is usual for women not to report immediately and even less when the aggressor is known.
