Prosecutor’s Office investigates death of young man during evictions in Soacha – Crimes – Justice

The Attorney General’s Office opened a criminal investigation for the facts surrounding the death of the teenager Duván Álvarez during the eviction of a property, last Thursday, June 25, in the Ciudadela Sucre neighborhood, Comuna Cuatro de Soacha, Cundinamarca.

According to complaints on social networks, the event occurred while the Mobile Riot Squad (Esmad) was carrying out the eviction for the illegal occupation of a private property, people have said that at that time, some members of the police fired shots that hit the minor in the chest.

The Cundinamarca Sectional Director of the Prosecutor’s Office, Nidia Pilar Rojas Pedraza, explained that the investigating entity is carrying out the urgent acts to collect evidence to clarify the circumstances in which the minor was injured.

“The Office of the Prosecutor opened an investigation for the crime of homicide. In the cardiovascular hospital the technical inspection of the corpse of the teenager, victim of a firearm projectile, was carried out“said Rojas.

The official added that it is also seeking to determine if the young man was participating in the riots that took place on June 25, while an administrative eviction procedure was being carried out in response to the crime of land invasion.

Rojas concluded by saying that the Prosecutor’s Office had all the technical, human and scientific resources to clarify this case and respond to the citizens.
