Prosecutors summoned Lee Jae-myeong, the representative of the Democratic Party of Korea, as a reference to the whistleblower of “suspicion of corporate card embezzlement” by Kim Hye-kyung, the spouse of Lee Jae-myeong, in relation to the billions of dollars in cash held in the house of the Democratic Party of Korea.

According to the legal community, on the 23rd, the 3rd Anti-Corruption Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office (Chief Prosecutor Kang Baek-shin) summoned Mr. A, a former secretary of the Gyeonggi Provincial Bureau, as a reference.

He is known to have said in the prosecutor’s investigation that “in June last year, before the Democratic Party presidential primaries, he saw Mr. Bae, a former fifth-level official in the Gyeonggi provincial office, known as an aide to Lee, leaving Lee’s house carrying a paper bag full of cash.”

When the fact of Mr. A’s investigation became known, the Democratic Party released a statement and said, “CEO Lee usually exchanged money held at the time to process about 270 million won, as campaign deposits for the election presidential elections on June 28 last year and the rent of the main office. I have deposited money into the Nonghyup account of the provincial office,” he said.
