Prosecutors Against Barr: No Evidence of US Election Fraud | Abroad

Prosecutors write in a letter to Barr, who has seen the paper, that there is no evidence in their districts of electoral fraud in the November 3 elections.

Federal prosecutors were ordered by Barr earlier this week to investigate President Donald Trump’s alleged ballot box fraud by the Democrats. In the letter of instructions to prosecutors, Barr spoke of “substantial allegations of irregularities in voting and counting.” However, Barr also called on federal prosecutors not to pursue all too “unrealistic or far-fetched” allegations.

Since the election, President Donald Trump and some Republicans have repeatedly claimed that Democrats committed fraud, without providing any evidence. Trump has announced that he wants to challenge the election results through legal channels.

Barr’s letter appeared to be part of that strategy. Barr has been accused on several occasions of misusing the Justice Department for protecting President Trump’s political and personal interests.

Although after counting the votes in all US states the decision has been made in Joe Biden’s favor, Trump refuses to acknowledge his loss and the president is obstructive in the disclosure of his successor that is customary in the transfer of power.

Biden again complained on Saturday about that lack of cooperation and warns of the negative consequences, especially for public health, in connection with the corona crisis. New records are broken almost daily in the number of new infections and the number of deaths.

“I am alarmed by the increase in reported Covid-19 infections, hospitalizations and deaths. This crisis calls for a robust and immediate federal response that is sadly lacking. Although I have been elected president, I will not become president until next year. Covid-19 does not respect dates on the calendar, it is now speeding up. The current government must now take urgent action, ”said Biden.

According to data from the Johns Hopkins Hospital, more than 244,000 people have died in the US and 10.75 million Americans have contracted the coronavirus.
