NEW YORK – A 34-year-old man from Queens was charged with manslaughter for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death last week, prosecutors said Tuesday. The woman’s disfigured body was found outside her building, under the sixth-floor window. This was announced by the authorities.
Shmuel Levine is expected to be arraigned next week on the second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of 37-year-old Danielle Marrano. Prosecutors say the crime happened on October 26, around 2:30 p.m., after an argument between the victim and the defendant inside the apartment located on Marrano’s Ocean Promenade in Rockaway Park.
Following the discussion, the report says, Levine violently beat Marrano and placed her in a choke position. The body of the victim was found mangled by police officers. Autopsy results show he suffered at least four skull fractures that contributed to his death, prosecutors said. At least two of those fractures did not match the injuries sustained from the fall.
Police found hair that appeared to match Marrano’s inside his apartment and noticed a large mark on the wall, according to the indictment.
“The last moments of this woman’s life were brutal,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement. “The defendant allegedly resorted to ruthless physical violence to resolve a dispute. The man has been charged accordingly and is in custody.”
Levine faces life in prison if convicted of the murder charge.
The lawyer’s information for him was not immediately available.
