The prosecution, which is investigating ‘suspicions of false reporting regarding President Yoon Seok-yeol’ related to last year’s presidential election, is taking a moment to catch its breath as it focuses on analyzing the seized items.
It is expected that the investigation will begin in earnest after the Chuseok holiday, including summoning officials for questioning.
The task is to prove the charges of conspiracy and quid pro quo in connection with the false interview between Kim Man-bae, a private businessman in Daejang-dong, and Shin Shin-lim, a former press union president, who started the incident.

The incident started with a recording of a conversation between Kim Man-bae, a private businessman in Daejang-dong, and Shin Shin-rim, former head of the media union, reported through Newstapa in March of last year just before the presidential election.
In this conversation, which took place six months before the presidential election, Kim Man-bae said that President Yoon Seok-yeol, who was the head of the 2nd Central Investigation Division of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office during the Busan Savings Bank investigation in 2011, cleared up the investigation into Daejang-dong broker Jo Woo-hyung.

However, immediately after the conversation, the prosecution detected circumstances in which Mr. Kim handed over 160 million won to former Chairman Shin, and when suspicions were raised that this conversation had been fabricated and reported, a special investigation team was formed and a forced investigation was launched.
Prosecutors believe that for the purpose of influencing the presidential election, Mr. Kim worked with former Chairman Shin to conduct a false interview with the intention of being unfavorable to President Yoon and then gave him money in return.
The prosecution searched and seized former Chairman Shin earlier this month and summoned him as a suspect for questioning, and then expanded the investigation to include media outlets, including search and seizure of Newstapa and JTBC.
On the 22nd, Mr. Lee, the CEO of the early developer of Daejang-dong, was summoned as a witness and investigated.
The investigation, which was progressing at a brisk pace, appears to have taken a breather due to the delay in the analysis of the seized items.
The prosecution has been conducting forensics on the seized items obtained during the search and seizure of former Chairman Shin for over three weeks.
Former Chairman Shin claims that the money he received from Kim Man-bae was for three volumes of ‘Map of the Republic of Korea’ that he wrote.

If the ‘false interview’ was conducted as the prosecution suspects, the key is to secure physical evidence, such as contact details or CCTV, that shows the two people colluded in advance.
As soon as the prosecution completes the analysis of the seized items, it plans to summon former Chairman Shin, Mr. Kim Man-bae, and the Newstapa official who reported the recording of the conversation between the two to investigate in turn, so the investigation is expected to begin in earnest after the holidays.
