Vienna (OTS) – The gastronomy is allowed to open up its pub gardens at least at Easter, but the entire cultural sector has to wait on. But does the relaxation also have the desired effect? In “Pro and Contra” this week, cabaret artist Reinhard Nowak, restaurateur Heinz Pollischansky and members of the National Council Eva Blimlinger (Die Grünen) and Helmut Brandstätter (NEOS) will be discussing.
People are tired of the measures. The infection numbers announced daily are no longer within reach for many. With the spring temperatures, life also shifts outdoors – parks and squares are populated by crowds. Politicians therefore want to relocate private meetings in an orderly manner in outdoor dining areas. This special regulation, however, angered the cultural sector, for which there are still no prospects despite ventilation and spacing concepts.
In addition, the virus mutations continue to ensure an increase in those who tested positive, so the pandemic is by no means over. For the complexity researcher Peter Klimek, the planned opening steps are therefore also “high risk”, there is a threat of a “still hidden third wave”.
Can this mini-opening prevent gastro-dying? Is their schnitzel so much more important to the Austrians than the culture? With the rise in infections, will the government’s promises even keep? Don’t we all have to prepare for the next hard lockdown?
