ProRail solves malfunction, but ‘not all trains can be started’

Due to the malfunction, ProRail was unable to not seeing where the trains were. That was unsafe.

Signals on red

“It seems that a server in the traffic control systems is not functioning properly,” a ProRail spokeswoman explained during the outage. “The signals also jump to red for safety reasons, so that driving is not allowed.”

The disruption affected all trains to and from Rotterdam and Dordrecht, an NS spokesperson said. Also trains on the high-speed line between Amsterdam Central and Breda were not running. Many users express their dissatisfaction on social media, for example because they got stuck in Antwerp.

Investigate cause

ProRail let us know on Twitter that the cause of the malfunction will be further investigated in order to better prevent such a problem in the future.

Like the NS, ProRail also advises travelers to consult a travel planner for the most up-to-date travel information.
