Proposed Increase in Funding for Vocational Education and Training Institutions in German Budget Plan

Will vocational education and training institutions receive more funding in the coming year than previously planned?

According to a statement from the German Bundestag, a proposed change to the budget planning of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) approved for 2024. The proposal came from the coalition parties SPDAlliance 90/The Greens and FDP.

The proposed amendment provides for an increase in funding for vocational education and training institutions by 980,000 euros.

A total of 25.38 million euros are now available for securing skilled workers in small and medium-sized companies (SME), which corresponds to an increase of 5.86 million euros.

Two initiatives are specifically highlighted: The project to be continued »Hand in Hand for International Talents« and the project »NETWORK companies integrate refugees«. For measures to increase the potential of skilled workers in SME Instead of the previous 5.27 million euros, a total of 9.27 million euros are now planned.
