Proposed Bill in New York Seeks to Mandate Speed Limiters for Repeat Speeding Offenders

Drivers who have repeatedly caught the eye by driving at excessive speeds could soon face drastic consequences in the US state of New York. Senator Andrew Gounardes is proposing a bill that would require speed limiters – also known as “speed limiters” – to be installed in speeders’ cars Spectrum News.

Drivers who received six tickets for speeding or crossing a red light should in future be obliged to install the speed limiter within a year, Gounardes demands. This should also apply to drivers who have been flashed four times. The limitation is intended to prevent the car from exceeding the speed limit by more than five miles per hour (about 8 km/h).

The same regulation should also apply to drivers who collect eleven or more points within 18 months. “If you don’t stop speeding, New York will force you. We have enough,” said Gounardes.
