Propaganda war – “Chaos” on the border of Ukraine and Russia – 2024-03-12 22:18:51

Chaos reigns near the Ukrainian-Russian border in Russian provinces Belgorod and his Kurskas there are conflicting accounts of whether or not they are under attack by Russian volunteers fighting with Ukraine.

“We crossed the border”, the Legion said, posting a video showing three armored vehicles driving in the dark on a country road. Shortly after, the group said it had “destroyed” a Russian armored car in the village of Tyotkino in the Kursk region of eastern Ukraine.

The group called the Order of Siberia said on Telegram: “As promised, we are bringing freedom and justice to our Russian land.”

THE Russian governor of Kursk Oblast confirmed the ongoing attack on the village and spoke of a minor injury, but denied any “infiltration” by the attackers. “A sabotage and espionage group attempted to infiltrate» to the village of Tiotkino, “there were gunfights but no infiltration”he said.

A little later in his announcement, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces today prevented infiltrations from the border with Ukraine and forced the attackers to retreat with significant losses. The Russian ministry said the attacks took place around 3 a.m. (Moscow time, 02:00 Greece time) and used tanks and armored personnel carriers to target various areas on the Russian side of the border. It said Russian troops used missiles, artillery units and air power to repel the attacks.

Earlier, the RIA news agency reported that Russia’s FSB security service denied that armed groups based in Ukraine had managed to infiltrate Russian territory. The TASS news agency, citing the FSB, reported that Russian forces killed 100 people and destroyed several armored vehicles while fighting to stop the infiltration attempts.

Responding to the Russian Defense Ministry’s announcement, a spokesman for Russian volunteers and launched attacks on Russian territory told AFP that fighting was still ongoing in two areas, shortly after Moscow announced it had repelled several attacks launched from Ukraine.

Alexei Baranovsky stated that clashes continued in the Belgorod and Kursk regions. “The Russian army has lost quite a few armored vehicles,” he said, but declined to specify near which communities the fighting was continuing.
