INRAE, INRAE Transfert and SATT Aquitaine Science Transfert have signed a five-year agreement which defines their joint operation in terms of technology transfer on the university sites of Pau and Bordeaux.
This agreement aims to facilitate the exchange of information in terms of industrial property and to organize the intervention of the SATT in the phases of prematuration and maturation of the proofs of concept and their commercial valuation, for all the research units. of the INRAE Nouvelle-Aquitaine Bordeaux center. The INRAE Nouvelle-Aquitaine Bordeaux center conducts innovative research in plant sciences, ecology and environment, human and social sciences, neurosciences and nutrition.
In the current context of global changes, work is carried out to meet the challenges of the agricultural, forestry and aquaculture sectors, while offering support for public policies. The research is organized around 5 themes:
- Biodiversity, functional and evolutionary ecology of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems,
- Integrative biology: production, quality and health of plants,
- Agroecology, design and sustainable management of production systems,
- Adaptation to global changes and socio-ecological transitions in the territories,
- Nutrition and the brain.
On the Bordeaux University site, INRAE shares 7 Joint Research Units with the University of Bordeaux and Bordeaux Sciences Agro, including:
- Fruit Biology and Pathology (BFP),
- Biodiversity Genes and Communities (BIOGECO),
- Ecophysiology and Functional Genomics of Grapevine (EGFV),
- Oenology, – Nutrineuro, – Vineyard Health and Agroecology (SAVE),
- Soil-Plant-Atmosphere Interactions (ISPA),
INRAE has 3 research units under single supervision:
- Aquatic Ecosystems and Global Changes (EABX),
- Environment Territories in Transition, Infrastructures, Societies (ETTIS),
- Mycology and Food Safety (MycSA).
In connection with the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour, INRAE has 2 Joint Research Units located in Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle:
- Behavioral Ecology and Biology of Fish Populations (ECOBIOP),
- Nutrition, Metabolism, Aquaculture (NuMéA).
On this vast perimeter, on which the establishments (University of Bordeaux, University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour and INRAE) share the mandates of promoting research results, INRAE, INRAE Transfert and SATT Aquitaine will pool the necessary resources. the detection of projects that can be valued from a socio-economic point of view, their maturation, as well as their intellectual property (notably patent filings). In other words, the three partners of the agreement will pool their material, financial and human resources so that the inventions of researchers from the 12 laboratories mentioned above can become innovations.
On a day-to-day and practical basis, the teams will pay particular attention to the detection of projects with high potential for innovation, by being alongside teacher-researchers in transfer and development activities, by ensuring the financing of the intellectual protection of the results of research in the fields of agriculture, food and the environment, by investing in the maturation of research results and their proof of concept, to demonstrate their industrial feasibility and facilitate their transfer, and finally by supporting the creation and development of young innovative companies promoting the results of agronomic research or in connection with the themes of agriculture, food and the environment.
In parallel with actions directly related to the promotion and transfer of innovations, INRAE and SATT Aquitaine will organize training and awareness-raising actions for researchers on the following themes:
- business needs, the market,
- Intellectual property,
- the promotion of research results,
- support systems for entrepreneurship and business creation.
