A conference on the implementation of the national security and cybersecurity strategy was organized on Wednesday, April 26 in Ha Long city, northern province of Quang Ninh, by the Information Security Authority (AIS) and municipal and provincial information and communication services.

According to AIS, cyberattacks in Vietnam mainly target servers to access them and steal passwords and data. Computer viruses caused economic losses of 21.2 trillion VND (nearly 903 million USD) in Vietnam last year.

In 2022, the Ministry of Information and Communication has coordinated with relevant agencies to organize three nationwide exercises on ensuring cybersecurity. AIS has directly prevented more than 3,600 fraudulent websites, helping to protect nearly 4 million people, or 6% of Internet users.

Authorities dealt with 76 websites spreading malware and blocked connections to 915 computer IP addresses in virus-infected computer networks (IP Botnet).

Tran Dang Khoa, Deputy Director of AIS, said ensuring cyber security and safety are key tasks in the digital transformation process, as well as important pillars for establishing digital trust and promoting prosperity in the world. digital age.

He highlighted the need to invest in cybersecurity, saying it helps promote sustainable development and create value.

AIS should maintain and improve the effectiveness of the “4-layer” information security assurance model, focusing on monitoring and professional protection, and connecting and sharing information with the security system. national surveillance; provide professional training and skills in information security for staff; and deploy anti-malware solutions.

During the event, participants proposed measures to promote the implementation of the national security and cybersecurity strategy.

Vietnam aims to build a cybersecurity research and development center, protect information systems in 11 major areas, and train cybersecurity forces in ministries, sectors and state agencies by 2025.

The AIS stressed that it is necessary to strengthen the protection of national sovereignty in cyberspace, digital infrastructure, digital platforms, digital data, national cyberinfrastructure, information systems of Party agencies and state and important areas.
