Promote Polyphonic Singing: The Vocal Company Showcases Contemporary Music with Large-Scale Productions and a Young Composer from Martiné

The Vocal Company, founded in March 2011 at the instigation of Damien Brochier, is an association of amateur choristers whose main objective is to promote polyphonic singing in the field of contemporary music (songs, variety, jazz, pop, etc.) through creation of large-scale shows mainly combining choral singing and staging. The group is made up of around thirty amateur singers, many of whom come from Saint-Martin-d’Hères, motivated (regular rehearsals throughout the year) and selected by audition.

Since 2011, the company has created and regularly presented shows in different towns in the department such as Wretched , which brought together around fifty singers and soloists, until 2015; a special Goldman show, with around thirty singers and 22 performances from 2014 to 2016, a show Stone from Starmania which mobilized around forty singers, two dancers and which was performed more than 24 times from 2014 to 2018. From 2016 to 2019, the show of its creation Conquest was also successful during the ten performances. Since 2018 and until 2024, the show white paradise honors contemporary French variety.

Arrangements by a young composer from Martiné

From 2023 to 2025, the last show in representation, Voyage which will very soon be given at L’Heure bleue in Saint-Martin-d’Hères with around thirty choristers and soloists. This show is designed around songs by Christophe Maé, Igit, Charles Trénet, Gims, Sting, Michel Sardou and Zaz. On the program 23 songs interpreted by 32 singers, five professional musicians, a dancer and a production by Christine Clémente. The choirs are directed by conductor Dominique Dumas. The musical and vocal arrangements are new and composed exclusively for this show by a young composer from Martiné Bastien Ficarazzo who also directs the choirs. It was after 18 months of rehearsal that the premiere took place on April 22 in Noyarey and the Vocal Company is impatiently awaiting the precise date of the performance in a few weeks at L’Heure Bleue to find its Martinéois audience.
