Martin Dulig recently promised a new, inexpensive education ticket for schoolchildren in Saxony. The finance minister Vorjohann apparently has no funds for this.
Finance Minister Hartmut Vorjohann (57, CDU) raised doubts at the weekend. “At the moment I do not see that the project fits into the state budget,” said the CDU politician in an interview with the Saxon newspaper. Dulig’s advance surprised him.
The Minister of Transport had announced that from August 1st, schoolchildren could travel all day cheaply within a transport association. The education ticket should cost a maximum of 180 euros per year – i.e. 15 euros per month.
According to Dulig, the Free State will contribute to the financing – with 50 million euros per year.
At the moment he “really doesn’t see where the money should be in the budget,” said Vorjohann. And he also had doubts that the project could be realized later.

The minister referred to the considerable costs of the corona pandemic, which restricted the Free State’s financial scope in the medium term.
The SPD budget politician Dirk Panter (46) countered on Sunday: “I’m sure the education ticket will be in the budget – regardless of whether the finance minister can imagine it or not.”
Panter referred to the coalition agreement. There, the black-green-red government partners agreed that the necessary financial resources should be made available for inexpensive student tickets.
