Promise world champion Pim Ronhaar goes to Baloise Trek Lions | Cyclocross

At the beginning of this year, Pim Ronhaar crowned himself in the sand of Ostend as world champion among the promises. He beat Ryan Kamp and Timo Kielich. He now closes the door to Jurgen Mettepenningen’s team and opts for Baloise Trek Lions.

Ronhaar will start his third year as a U23 rider next fall. He is next to Thibau Nys, Ward Huybs and Shirin van Anrooij the fourth promise at Baloise Trek Lions. On Saturday he will make his debut for his new team in Dwars door het Hageland. The following week the Baloise Belgium Tour follows.

“It was not easy to ride among the pros last season,” says Ronhaar. “For me, an outlier among the elite was the very tough cross in Dendermonde, in which I finished eighth. I like those kinds of tough courses, such as the Koppenberg or Overijse.”

“I am also good in the sand. I put the icing on the cake of last season in the sand of Ostend with the world title with the U23. First of all I hope that I can finish U23 races in the rainbow jersey next winter.”

“That in combination with a number of elite competitions. Of course the championships are always a goal, but first and foremost I want to enjoy my rainbow jersey.”
