As if the world stopped spinning for a while: just before 6 p.m. Monday evening, the website and app of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were suddenly down. For hours people couldn’t post, like and comment. “This is an internal problem that could have been caused by a trivial mistake,” experts say. “But for a company like Facebook it can have huge consequences.” It only made the tech giant’s bad week all the more disastrous.
