Project Zero co-creator set for new installment, but Nintendo decides – News

The Nintendo Everything site was able to speak with Keisuke Kikuchi, co-creator of the horrific saga Project Zero (Fatal Frame), launched in 2001 by Tecmo and appeared for the last time on Wii U in 2015. The opportunity to talk with him the possibility of a new opus and remasters for the Switch.

In last october, Keisuke Kikuchi already expressed his desire to create a new Project Zero game on the hybrid console. Nintendo Everything put the subject back on the table and the creator, an employee of Koei Tecmo, leaves the door open again, reminding that at the end of the day, Nintendo must give the green light:

Even if I have this hope, it is a series that Nintendo publishes for us (since the fourth opus, Editor’s note) and I only manage the development. So even if I declare that I want to make another game, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it will happen.

Same case for potential remastered versions of previous opuses, which would allow a new audience to apprehend the license knowing that a movie adaptation directed by Christophe Gans (The Pact of the Wolves, The beauty and the Beast…) is approaching:

The Hollywood film is in production and will be released in the West, so I would obviously like to offer not only the film to our audience, but also the games to accompany it. When it comes to Project Zero 2 and 4, Nintendo has the editing rights, so we don’t really have a say. Another factor is also the fact that I supervise things at Gust (the Atelier saga, Fairy tail) at the moment. Bringing together the team members and the necessary means of production in the short term would be very difficult, but in the long term, I never really gave up on the idea.

In other words, don’t expect Project Zero to return in the near future. But in the long term, hope is allowed.
