Definitely the pulse on abortion in Colombia will take the Congress this semester. This was made clear after it became known that a group of 14 congressmen, led by the senator of the Christian Colombia Free Party, John Milton Rodríguez, lodged in Congress a project to create the ‘Provida Legal Commission’.

This commission will seek to develop the projects that these congressmen have called ‘the defense of life’, among which there are issues such as abortion and euthanasia.
“It is an honor for me, as the author of the bill, to report that we defend life from conception to natural death. Abortion and euthanasia are not an option in difficult and extreme times, life must be defended and it will be our proposal and defense from the pro-life legal commission, “said Senator Rodríguez.

The initiative was authored by Senator John Milton Rodríguez, from the Colombia Justa Libres party, and had the support of the Centro Democrático party, with senators such as Paola Holguín, María del Rosario Guerra, Senator Carlos Felipe Mejía and representatives José Uscátegui and Juan Fernando Espinal; Senator from the Conservative party Esperanza Andrade also joined.
“Abortion and euthanasia are against the right to life, the pro-life commission will work to guarantee access to the fundamental right of life, enshrined in Article 11 of the Constitution, even in the most extreme and painful cases, “said the congressman.

In this sense, senator John Milton Rodríguez announced that they will present in the coming weeks a project that seeks to offer women victims of sexual violence, in which a pregnancy occurs, alternatives other than abortion, among which is the possibility of adoption since abortion.
