New station for people with mental illness

The bird catcher overcomes the deep personal crisis with the help of his friends, so the Papageno project in Vorarlberg aims to provide psychological first aid. Papageno is a project for the prevention of mental illnesses, especially addiction and suicidality.
“If you look now where we spend most of the time, then that is the work and that is why companies are very important because we are in the company for up to eight hours or more”, says Philipp Kloimstein, the primary at the Maria Foundation Level.
Raising awareness among companies
Those affected receive specific offers of help during counseling sessions. Because the coronavirus crisis has left psychological traces in the companies. Jürgen Rainalter, Managing Director of the Getzner Werkstoffe plant, feels this too: “What we are trying to do is deal with the effects and contain them as far as possible. With almost 500 people, we strive to take the strain off people, increase comfort and bring calm into them. For us, that was also the reason why we decided to support this project. “
Around 30 people have taken advantage of the offer in the last few weeks, the reasons are varied. The aim of the project is also to raise the awareness of executives and colleagues in dealing with mentally stressed people.
Addiction prevention in companies
Depression and the use of sedative or performance-enhancing addictive substances such as alcohol, tobacco, tablets or drugs have increased during the pandemic. This is also becoming a problem for many companies. Now there is a project with the illustrious name “Papageno”, which is intended to support employees with special offers in the field of addiction and suicide prevention.

Everyone has to look
In the Vorarlberg-heute-talk, the head of Supro, Andreas Prenn, says that everyone in the company should take a look at psychological problems: “I think our project can help here by offering lectures for companies, workshops for HR managers and decision-makers and of course also help in-house. So there is more or less a guideline for action where it is clear where the employee can turn if he is affected himself or if he has someone in the immediate vicinity in the company where it is assumed that he needs help. “
