Project F: A New Tactical FPS Game with Dynamic Maps

Planned by Japanese e-sports player Kenki (けんき), the first-person tactical shooting game “Project F”, which automatically generates a new map for each game, will be available for early access on Steam on August 4, Japan time. The game itself is free to play, and character appearances and decorations are purchased separately.

“Project F” will generate new maps for each new game, which is different from the fixed map pool used by existing competitive FPS games. Players must quickly understand the map and formulate strategies, eliminating the map familiarity gap between new and experienced players.

In this work, players are divided into two teams of 5 people, attacking and defending. They control characters with unique abilities and fight around the target “stone tablet”. There are currently six types of character skills: destroying walls, teleportation, operating drones, smoke, poisonous gas, explosion + flash throwing knife.

The victory condition for the attacker is to successfully hack into the stele or annihilate the opponent within the time limit, while the defender needs to place the stele on the map and successfully defend or annihilate the attacker. Each game lasts 2 minutes, and the offense and defense are switched after six rounds. The game is limited to a maximum of six rounds, and the first to win seven rounds is the winner.

During each round, players also need to plan and purchase weapons, armor, and tools through rewards for killing enemies and winning rounds. Various choices will affect the outcome of the entire game.

Kenki, who planned this work, is an e-sports player who was active on the stage of “Rainbow Six: Siege”. He is currently the vice-captain and host of the team “Father’s Back”.

according toforeign media reports, the “Project F” season server will be repeated in the form of two weeks open and two weeks off. Players can play custom games and training modes, but modes such as points will be limited.

Why open the server intermittently? Kenki said that a small-scale development game like this one is not easy to compete with “Special Wars Heroes” and “Apex Heroes”, so he decided to spare the server break time to adjust the game, and at the same time maintain the heat through a limited time.

“Project F” is expected to open Steam Early Access on August 4, Japan time. If you want to try a tactical FPS game that eliminates the advantage of map familiarity, you may wish to add this game to your wish list.
