Square Enix has finally revealed the secret that has been hidden behind the code name Project Athia. On Thursday, the developer was able to reveal that the upcoming action role-playing game will be called Forspoken, and it will come to PC and PlayStation 5 sometime next year.
The announcement of both the title and release date came in a new trailer for the game, which you can see at the top of the article. The video primarily introduces protagonist Frey Holland, played by Charlie’s Angels actress Ella Balinska, but also offers a few glimpses of the gaming experience itself.
As Square and developer Luminous Productions – the team behind Final Fantasy XV – explain, Frey is an ordinary young girl, who is just so ordinary that she has magical abilities. These she must use to survive in the dangerous world called Athia.
Among her abilities is the ability to climb, jump and run ugly fast. In addition, she can use both offensive and defensive magic in battle, but exactly how this works, we must wait to find out more about.
The pre-show was shown for the first time below Squares E3 replacement last summer, then under the working title Project Athia. Now we know a little more about the scheme, which will be launched during 2022.
