Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo have each shared a new shot from filming Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi adventure, The Adam Project . Ruffalo will play the father of Reynolds, the last of whom travels through time on a secret mission to save the world. The star of Deadpool he couldn’t help but allude to Ruffalo’s high-profile role as Marvel’s Bruce Banner, aka Hulk, with the actor referencing a beloved line from Thor: Ragnarok of 2017.
“I also have a friend from work. But no matter how angry I make it, it’s still the same size.”
Mark Ruffalo meanwhile he’s clearly having fun playing old man Reynolds, offering him some sage advice on life in a way that only Ruffalo can.

The Adam Project focuses on the younger version of Reynolds’ character, 13-year-old Adam Reed, as he continues to mourn the sudden death of his father a year earlier. One night, Adam walks into his garage and finds a wounded pilot hiding there, a pilot who seems strangely familiar. This mysterious pilot ( Ryan Reynolds ) turns out to be the oldest version of himself from the future, where time travel is in its infancy. He has risked everything to go back in time on a secret mission and together they must embark on an adventure in the past to find his father, fix things and save the world.
Mark Ruffalo recently signed the project along with Oscar. -Nominated actress Catherine Keener, with Ruffalo set to play Reynolds’ father, a brilliant physique, with Keener on board as the film’s villain, who has stolen powerful technology from him. The Adam Project also stars fellow MCU Ruffalo, the star of Guardians of the Galaxy Zoe Saldana, who will play Reynolds’ fighter pilot wife. Alias star Jennifer Garner will also count and play Adam’s mother at age 13. Newcomer Walker Scobell will star opposite Reynolds in the 13-year-old version of Adam.
The Netflix original movie was originally set eight years ago at Paramount, during which time Mission: Impossible Hollywood star and icon Tom Cruise was attached. Since then, the script has undergone several rewrites, with the most recent version being written by Irreplaceable You and Banshee screenwriter Jonathan Tropper. Recently picked up by Netflix, The Adam Project will see Reynolds once again team up with the director of Free Guy Shawn Levy, and has David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger on board as producers.
The production of The Adam Project is currently underway in Vancouver, and although the film does not have a release date yet, it is expected to come out on Netflix sometime in 2021. The film is just one of several high-profile projects in the works for Reynolds, including the film big-budget action Netflix Red Notice alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, and the video game-inspired movie Free Guy Directed by Shawn Levy.
